Recruiting a Temporary SAP Resource

  • September 29, 2022

When companies hire a temporary SAP resource on their own, they typically only have time to scan résumés, conduct brief interviews, and possibly run a few reference checks. This lack of depth available is exactly why staffing agencies, like BCTG, exist. Staffing agencies have vast networks that allow them to take a deep dive into potential candidates and ensure you are hiring the best fit.

Typically, companies consult staffing agencies for their recruiting needs when they are looking to save time and money and streamline the hiring process. As a recruiter, it is your responsibility to understand the employer’s goals and what the ideal candidate will look like to achieve those goals. After all, recruiting is all about building relationships and finding the best candidates in a specialized and proactive manner.

Understand the Company’s Needs

The first step when recruiting a temporary SAP resource is to meet with the employer to truly understand their unique needs for the role. Once you get an idea of what it is they are looking for, it is your job to find the best possible candidate. What qualities and qualifications does the candidate need to succeed? What personality characteristics should the candidate display? When working with the employer to put together the job posting, make sure these details are clear to weed out unqualified applicants. While looking for a temporary resource specifically, the ideal candidate will come equipped with the expertise and skillset necessary to succeed in the role. Remember, as a recruiter, you know what is best for the company from a staffing perspective and you should always leverage that knowledge.

Find Qualified Candidates

Once you gain a thorough understanding of the company’s needs, use your resources and connections to find qualified potential candidates. Not only should these candidates have the experience and skills required, but they should also fit well into the company culture. Do the wants of the company line up with the wants of the candidate? At the end of the day, the ideal candidate should be able to fill the demands of the role immediately and be a good fit for your organization with the expertise and personal attributes desired.

Stay Involved

After thoroughly screening and finalizing qualified candidates, present your findings to the employer. Did you meet their needs? Are these candidates right for them? Even after you share the pre-selected candidates with the company, you should stay involved. Offer your expertise and assistance throughout the temporary resource’s employment to understand how the candidate you selected performed.
